Tributes are being paid to Galway’s 1956 All Ireland football winning wing back Jack Kissane who has passed away and whose funeral is this evening.
The Kerry native moved to Renmore as part of his job with the Army and won a Galway Senior Football Championship in 1951 before joining the Galway panel 2 years later.
Jack’s first game was against Leitrim in the 1953 Connacht Championship and he would go on to form a solid half back partnership with Jack Mahon and Mick Greally that would eventually land the All Ireland title in 1956 after an epic final win over Cork.
Brigadier General Jack Kissane will be reposing at the O’ Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue, this evening from 5pm to 7pm with Mass on Saturday at 11 am in the Church of Christ the King, Salthill and burial afterwards in Rahoon Cemetery.
