Tribesmen Rowing Club is delighted to announce plans to host a prestigious rowing time trial, the Tribesmen Head of the River (THOR), on the River Corrib during St. Patrick’s weekend.
This thrilling 4.2km race will see both international and domestic crews competing for glory as they navigate the course from the lake, past the historic Menlo Castle, and finish at the Quincentennial Bridge in Galway.
Tribesmen Club President Colin Hanley shared his excitement about the event, highlighting the strong international interest it has garnered:
“Crews from the USA, UK, and Germany have already confirmed their participation, joining some of the best domestic talent in what is now one of the premier rowing events on the Irish rowing calendar. We relaunched the event last year, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Word has spread about the exceptional experience and the vibrant atmosphere in Galway over St. Patrick’s weekend.”
Leading the charge for the club is none other than World Champion Siobhán McCrohan, who serves as Tribesmen’s Club Captain. She emphasized the inclusive and competitive nature of the event.
“We’ll see men and women of all ages from across Ireland competing against top international crews,” shew said. “It’s an incredible opportunity to showcase the sport to the local community while providing a fantastic event for the rowing world. We’re excited to welcome everyone to Galway this St. Patrick’s weekend.”
