2017 is the 50 Anniversary of community Games and as well as lots of celebrations, there are some changes to National Finals this year, The first one is that Aldi Community Games National Finals is being held in the Centre of Excellence, Abbotstown on the 6th Mayo 2017
Aldi Connaught Community Games Finals were held in Castlebar/Balla/ Westport/ Manulla, Mayo on Saturday 8th April 2017. There was competition in 28 Team events, 90 Teams from the 5 Counties of Connaught took part, playing 56 Semi Finals, 28 Finals, and numerous Prelims, with 40 presentations and they all ran with precision organization, beautiful weather, happy children from all 5 Counties of Connaught and 10 Teams from Galway, 8 Teams from Sligo, 6 Teams from Mayo and 4 Teams from Roscommon all going forward to represent their Province at the National Finals on the 6th May in Abbotstown
A lot of preparation went into organising the day, and credit to the Connaught Chair, Gerry McGuinness, and Secretary Margaret Bolton, The Mayo Committee who did an excellent job. Thanks also to the Connaught Committee who helped with all events on the day. Appreciation also to all the volunteers, co-coordinators, the catering ladies, Referees, judges, Governing Bodies who allowed us use their excellent venues and everyone who assisted today, Your support is acknowledge and appreciated
