Success On The Double For Galway Clubs At ILGU Connacht Finals

There was double success for the ladies of Loughrea and Portumna Golf Clubs on Saturday at the ILGU Connacht Finals held in Gort Golf Club.

Loughrea were dominant in a 5-0 victory over Athlone in the Intermediate Cup with wins for Chris Murray, Anne Kelly, Helen Shaughnessy Foley, Geraldine Keely and Tanya Whyte.

Meanwhile, Portumna Golf Club edged out Enniscrone in the Junior Foursomes 2-1 with wins for Bernie Kilmartin and Brid Kelly in atch two and Mary McElroy and Rachel Madden in the third and final match.

Of the other Galway teams in action on Saturday, Portumna were beaten 3-0 by Roscommon in the Senior Foursomes while Galway Bay were beaten by Co Sligo in the final of the Challenge Cup with the deciding match going to the 19th hole.
