Galway United began the new Airtricity League First Division season with a 0-0 draw against Shelbourne on Friday night (March 26th).
Ryan Brennan, Padraic Cunningham and Ruairí Keating came close for the Tribesmen over the 90 minutes but they couldn’t find a way past Shelbourne keeper Brendan Clarke.
The visitors to Eamonn Deacy Park lost Glen McCauley to a red card before half-time but the wet conditions after the restart made it difficult for Galway to take advantage.
Jonathan Higgins and Mike Rafferty caught up with manager John Caufield and striker Padraic Cunningham afterwards.
But first Mike Rafferty has this match report.
Galway United’s next outing is away to Athlone Town this Friday (2nd April) at 7.45pm.
