Shane O'Neill to be appointed Galway hurling manager

Former Na Piarsaigh boss Shane O’ Neill is to be recommended by the selection committee as the new Galway senior hurling manager. O’Neill’s appointment brings to an end a 3-month long saga since Micheal Donoghue announced his resignation in August and comes just days ahead of the county hurling final between St Thomas’ and Liam Mellows. It also means Galway will be the last of the 10 counties competing for the Liam McCarthy Cup to have ratified a manager for next season.

O'Neill replaced Seán Stack after Na Piarsaigh’s 2014 All-Ireland club semi-final defeat by Portumna and went on to lead the club to 3 Limerick titles, 2 Munster titles and 1 All Ireland in his 5 years in charge. He works as a partner in legal firm Sweeney-McGann Solicitors.
