Senior and Intermediate Football Championships Reach Vital Stages This Weekend

The County Senior and Intermediate Football Championships enter a vital stage this weekend with third round games in both with the winners joining the winners from the winners groups in the quarter finals. There is also one Preliminary Quarter Final down for decision in the Senior Football Championship.

The weekend gets underway with the Intermediate Football championship clash of Glenamaddy and Williamstown in Tuam Stadium at 3pm followed by the first of the Senior Football Championship games in Clonbur as Naomh Anna Leitir Mor takes on Kilconly at 4.30. At the same time in Pearse Stadium, An Spideal and Oughterard face each other in the Intermediate Football Championship.

Fifteen minutes later at 4.45 Tuam Stars and Caherlistrane meet in Tuam Stadium in the Senior Football Championship Preliminary Quarter Final.

Pearse Stadium hosts the Senior Football Championship clash of Killannin and Maigh Cuilin at 6.15 and the last of the Saturday games is the keenly anticipated Senior Championship tie between Milltown and Mountbellew/Moylough.

There are four Senior and Intermediate championship games down for decision on Sunday with two double headers at Pearse Stadium and Tuam Stadium. The day starts with Micheal Breathnach and St James at 12.45 followed by the first of the games in Tuam Stadium with Dunmore McHales taking on St Brendans in the Intermediate championship at 1pm. Then at 2.30 in Pearse Stadium, St Michaels takes on Salthill/Knocknacarra in the Senior Championship and at the same time in Tuam Stadium, Menlough and Kilkerrin/Clonberne meet in the Intermediate Championship.
