A group of Rugby supporters from all over the country are to cycle from Bective Rangers RFC in Dublin to Castlebar to raise money for Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and Pieta House.
Leaving Dublin on the 28th of March, the group will first cycle to Curraghboy near Athlone and on the 29th, will cycle to Castlebar with the aim of being there in time for Connacht's United Rugby Championship game with Munster in McHale Park.
All funds raised will go directly to these 2 great causes.
28 March: Bective Rangers FC to Curraghboy (150K approx): Depart Bective at 7.45 (am). The time has been chosen to represent the jersey numbers previously worn by Rob Burrow, Paul Darbyshire and Doddie Weir, three legendary rugby players who succumbed after a great battle with MND.
29 March: Curraghboy to Castlebar (100K approx): Depart Curraghboy at 5.45 (am). This time has been chosen so that we can be on the road for sunrise (expected at 6.10) in keeeping with the Darkness into light theme of Pieta.
Kevin Lavin is the man behind the cycle and he spoke to John Mulligan
