Galway United fell short of the Airtricity League First Division play-off spots last night (Tuesday) after drawing 2-2 with UCD in Eamonn Deacy Park.
John Caulfield’s charges needed victory and led at half-time thanks to Stephen Christopher but two Evan Weir strikes overturned the deficit for UCD.
Shane Duggan smashed home an equaliser from 30 yards in injury time for the Tribesmen but the draw means they finish one point behind Cabinteely and outside the required top five spot.
Afterwards, Caulfield gave his thoughts to Galway Bay FM's Mike Rafferty.
Drogheda United were promoted as champions following their 2-0 win over Cabinteely.
In the playoffs, Bray will play Cabinteely, and UCD will take on Longford Town.
