The Brooks Senior B Hurling Final is down for decision this Saturday (19th October 2024) been two of the most decorated teams in the county's history.
Portumna and Athenry have shared seven All-Ireland titles but they now battle for a return to the top table. Last year Portumna were relegated from the senior hurling championship, while Athenry had to survive a relegation final against Killimor.
They've already met this season with Athenry prevailing 0-20 to 1-14 in Round 2. And when they met in the senior hurling final in 2024, it was Athenry again who won by 0-15 to 0-13. Portumna's last championship victory over Athenry was 10 years ago.
Leading up to the game, Portumna manager Sean Treacy has been chatting to Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly.
Darren also got the thoughts of Athenry boss Niall Sunderland.
Throw-in at Duggan Park, Ballinasloe on Saturday is 5pm and we'll have LIVE coverage here on Galway Bay FM.
