Pearse Stadium has been selected as one of six grounds that have been shortlisted to win the awards. It will go up against:
Dr Hyde Park, Roscommon
McGovern Park, Ruislip
O'Donnell Park, Letterkenny
Nowlan Park, Kilkenny
Páirc Tailteann, Navan
Stuart Wilson, who is the Croke Park and GAA NGDC Pitch Manager will be visiting the grounds in the next few weeks with Dr Stephen Barker of the Sports Research Institute (STRI) to assess the playing surfaces.
This initiative was introduced to up the standards of pitches all around the nation and bring it up to the level of Croke Park.
Semple Stadium, Thurles won the award in 2017, with Nowlan Park, Kilkenny winning in 2018.
The winner will be announced in the coming weeks.
