Having led Galway to their first All Ireland Final appearance in 21 years and a first Connacht title since 2018 this year, Padraig Joyce will be ratified as Senior Manager for a second 3 year term at a meeting of the County Board next Monday night. Joyce's first two years in charge were hugely affected by Covid, with successive Connacht Final defeats to Mayo ending any championship aspirations. However, 2022 brought about renewed optimism and with newly appointed coach Cian O'Neill joining his backroom team, Joyce and Galway won five successive championship games against Mayo. Leitrim, Roscommon, Armagh and Derry, before losing out to Kerry late in the All Ireland final.
Meanwhile, All Ireland winning Minor manager Alan Glynn looks set to stay on for another year at the U17 grade, while U20 manager Donal O'Fatharta will also remqain in situ as Galway GAA released this statement last night:
"The Management Committee of Galway GAA are recommending Padraic Joyce as Senior Football Manager on a three term for ratification at County Committee meeting next week. Donal Ó Fátharta and Alan Glynn are proposed for 1 year extensions as U20 and Minor Managers respectively."
