New title sponsor announced for Galway Oaks

Galway Greyhound Stadium has announced Fonez as the title sponsor of the 2023 Galway Oaks which takes place over 3 weekends during November. The event which returned to the Galway racing calendar in 2022, is for 24 open-class bitches with a winners’ prize of €7.500 & a trophy. Last year saw the track record broken not once, but twice during the competition by champion and reigning National Bitch of The Year Raha Mofo. The partnership will not be the first time that Irish company Fonez has worked with Galway Greyhound Stadium, however, it is the largest winner’s purse they have sponsored. The event which is expecting a strong entry, promises some fantastic action over the three weeks.

Derek Frehill, Director of Racing for Greyhound Racing Ireland said, “We are delighted to partner with Fonez as the new sponsor for the Galway Oaks. Their investment in racing here at Galway Greyhound Stadium will help to promote greyhound racing, support owners and trainers, and progress the delivery of several care and welfare initiatives through the Greyhound Care Fund. We are grateful to have them join the growing list of renewed partnerships across the country and we look forward to a competitive event.”

Gabriel Carey, Managing Director of Fonez said at the launch“We at Fonez are delighted to be partnering with GRI, sponsoring the Galway Oaks event this year. As an Irish-owned company, we are always happy to support fellow businesses within Ireland, and with the Greyhound industry supporting over 4,000 jobs across Ireland we are proud to call ourselves sponsors of the Galway Oaks 2023.”

Dates to note:

Round 1 takes place on Friday, 10th November.

Semi-finals take place on Saturday 18th November.

The final takes place on Saturday 25th November.
