Galway's U20 hurlers lost out to Kilkenny 1-28 to 1-27 after extra time on Bank Holiday Monday in Tullamore in a thrilling Leinster semi final. The sides were level at 0-19 each at full time, before Galway pulled five points clear in extra time. Kilkenny responded and led by three points after scoring a goal late on but Galway refused to buckle and looked like they had forced a penalty shoot-out when three late points levelled the match. Unfortunately for Galway there was still time for Kilkenny centre back Joe Fitzpatrick to fire over the winner with virtually the last puck of an enthralling game, watched by Niall Canavan...

Galway's wait since 2011 for a first All Ireland hurling title at U20 Level (or U21 in previous format) goes on, while Kilkenny are looking to win a first national U20 title since 2008 as they face Wexford in the Leinster final. The Munster final between Limerick and Tipperary is on tomorrow night (Wednesday), with the two winners set to face off in the final on the weekend of May 22nd.
