Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) today announced the appointment of Jonathan Mullin to the position of Director of Communications and Public Affairs. This appointment is part of the ongoing development of the senior management team within Horse Racing Ireland to ensure delivery on its strategic ambitions for the organisation and the industry.
HRI Chief Executive, Brian Kavanagh, stated: “We are delighted to be able to appoint somebody of the calibre of Jonathan to this important position. Jonathan is a very well-known and highly respected figure both within and outside the industry and will bring the perfect combination of experience, expertise and new thinking to the management team. I very much look forward to working with Jonathan.”
“Jonathan will join HRI on May 15th 2017 and will be responsible for the leadership, management and development of the communications function within HRI, comprising corporate affairs, internal and external corporate communications, press office and event management.”
Jonathan Mullin stated: “I have a great passion for horse racing and thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Irish Racing Post. There are few jobs that would tempt me to leave my current position with RTÉ, but this is certainly one of them. I very much look forward to joining Horse Racing Ireland and working with a dedicated and committed team. I cannot wait to start and greatly look forward to the challenges which the position will bring.”
Jonathan hails from County Mayo and since graduating from NUI Galway, has enjoyed a very successful career in the journalism / media sector. He joins Horse Racing Ireland from the position as Head of Digital Sport with RTÉ, having previously served for six years as the founding editor of the Irish Racing Post.
