Noel McNamara's side started the tournament with a bang, defeating England 42-26. But a 45-17 loss to Australia put Ireland's hopes in doubt.

Connacht's Colm Reilly started at scrum-half, while Niall Murray came on after 10 minutes due to a shocking injury to Ciaran Booth and Dylan Tierney-Martin was introduced 50 minutes in.
