A closely-contested affair was in the melting pot right up until the closing minute, when scores from Stefan Zecevic and Joshua Wilson pushed DBS over the line to glory. Standout stars for NUIG Eoin Rockall (who picked up an All-Star), Stephen Commins and Tom Rivard pushed DBS all the way and, with just over two minutes to play, had the game back to just two points, DBS leading by 67-65. Less than a minute later, there was still only a point in it before a massive and one score from Zecevic finally put some breathing room between the sides and free throws from Zecevic and Wilson sealed the game on a final scoreline of 76-68.
Trinity College Dublin meanwhile, with Maree's Alison Blaney among their key players, drove home to a superb Women’s Division A Intervarsities title following a stunning turnaround of a 21-point deficit against reigning champions, DCU to win 70-64.
UCD stormed home to the Women’s Division B Intervarsities title as they came from behind to win 63-53 against Letterkenny IT. Led by Maree star Catherine Connaire (All-Star award winner) and MVP Verity O’Connor, UCD began to chip away at the LYIT lead as the third quarter ticked down and eventually ran out comfortable winners.
