Tubber secured a first-ever Kilbeacanty 7s hurling title on Monday (5th June) when they beat Tommy Larkins in the final after an exciting day of action.
Their three-point victory followed group wins over Beagh, Tommy Larkins and St. Thomas, before past Craughwell in the semi-final.
The Tubber team included former Clare hurling captain Patrick O'Connor and he had a chat with Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly after their first-round win over Beagh.
With still seven of the eight teams fighting for possession entering Round 3 in the afternoon, St. Thomas' manager Kenneth Burke and two-time All-Ireland winning goalkeeper John Commins gave their views on the competition so far, and what they thought of Galway's chances against Kilkenny in the Leinster Hurling Final.
Galway Bay FM were broadcasting LIVE from Kilbeacanty throughout the Bank Holiday Monday and began just after 12pm with Jon Richards and Darren Kelly setting the scene.
The opening final was the Joe Gillane under-12 camogie decider and that went to St. Colman's who beat Shamrocks 8-7 to 2-1. Their mentor Cilla Fahey spoke to Darren afterwards.
As the day was picking up, Kilbeacanty GAA chairman Justin Fahey joined up with Darren to talk about the Kilbeacanty 7s and what it means to the club and the parish.
The Joe Gillane under-12 hurling champions were Michael Cusacks, who were 3-14 to 2-7 victors against Oranmore/Maree. Their manager Finbarr Gantley had a chat with Darren after the final whistle.
Former Galway GAA chairman Pat Kearney is from the Kilbeacanty club and he was volunteering on the gate but took a break to speak with Darren.
Many Galway GAA officials were in attendance including Hurling Board chairman Claude Geoghegan. And he took time out to highlight with Darren how important the Kilbeacanty 7s are.
Finally, even with the competition in full swing, Darren and Justin, and Rationel Area manager Colm Moylette got together for a few words and also discussed the upcoming Golf Classic on August Bank Holiday Weekend.
