Gold Medals for Galway GAA Clubs as 37 medals to be awarded nationally by Glor Na Ngael

Tá 37 bonn le bronnadh ar chlubanna CLG sa bhliain úr, mar aitheantas ar a saothar leis an Ghaeilge a chur chun cinn sna gcumainn. Chuaigh an 37 club faoi mholtóireacht le cupla seachtain anuas, mar chuid d’Fhondúireacht Sheosaimh Mhic Dhonncha, scéim aitheantais atá a reáchtáil ag Glór na nGael i gcomhar le Cumann Lúthchleas Gael.

26 bonn cré-umha, 6 bonn airgid maraon le 5 bhonn óir atá le bronnadh ar chlubanna ó fud fad oileán na hÉireann. Deir Caitríona Nic Seoin, Bainisteoir Forbartha le Glór na nGael gur ghlac ós cionn 189 club páirt sa scéim i mbliana,

“Cuireann rannpháirteachas gníomhach na gcumainn san fhondúireacht seo go mór le feiceálacht agus le húsáid na Gaeilge i gclubanna CLG fud fad na tíre. Is cúis áthais dúinn go bhfuil éileamh láidir ar an scéim i gcónaí agus go bhfuil muid ag feiceáil torthaí na hoibre ar an talamh sna pobail ”

Is in ómós do Seosamh ‘Joe’ Mac Donncha (1953-2016) a ainmníodh an fhondúireacht seo.  Fear le háireamh a bhí i Joe a bhain go leor amach dó féin agus do phobal na tíre seo i gcoitinne le linn a shaoil. D’éirigh leis an ról is airde a bhaint amach sa Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, mar iománaí, thóg sé Corn Mhic Cárthaigh leis siar go Gaillimh agus bhí sé ina phríomhfheidhmeannach agus mar chathaoirleach ar chuid de mhór-eagraíochtaí na tíre seo, Foras na Gaeilge ina measc.

Thíos tá liosta na gclub a mbronnfar bonn orthu i bPáirc an Chrócaigh san Earrach.

37 medals will be awarded to GAA clubs in recognition of their work to promote the Irish language in the clubs. The 37 clubs have been adjudicated over the last couple of weeks as part of the Joe McDonagh Foundation, a recognition scheme run by Glór na nGael in association with the Gaelic Athletic Association.
26 bronze medals, 6 silver medals and 5 gold medals are to be awarded to clubs from all over the island of Ireland. Caitríona Nic Seoin, Development Manager with Glór na nGael said that over 189 clubs took part in the scheme this year,
“The active participation of the clubs in this foundation greatly enhances the visibility and use of the Irish language in GAA clubs throughout the country. We are delighted with the enthusiasm we see from clubs wishing to participate in this scheme and that we are seeing the positive impact of their work within the communities.”

This foundation was named in honor of  Joe McDonagh (1953-2016). Joe was an outstanding man who achieved a great deal during his lifetime not only for himself but also for the wider community. He achieved the highest role in the Gaelic Athletic Association, as a hurler, took the McCarthy Cup back to Galway and was the chief executive and chairman of some of the major organizations in this country, including Foras na Gaeilge.
Below is the list of the clubs that will be awarded a medal at an event that will take held in Croke Park next Spring.
