Glenamaddy CS booked their place in the FAI Schools First Year ‘B’ Girls National Cup Final after defeating St. Aidan's Cootehill 2-0 on Tuesday, September 10th.
The Galway side were quick and efficient with the size of the occassion clearly not affecting the girls early, as Edie Kilmartin put away the opener in just the 6th minute. The leading side doubled their tally just 7 minutes later, as Michelle Mulryan delivered a beautiful ball off her free kick to assist Charlotte Collins to get a comfortable handle on the match.
The first half wasn't scare-free for Glenamaddy as St. Aidan's hit the woodwork through Grace Sherlock's free kick, just before the 20 minute mark.
The second half once again saw Glenamaddy speeding off the blocks, this time however it would not result in a goal, as Charlotte Collins skimmed the crossbar in her attempt to net a brace in the 36th minute.
Glenamaddy saw their lead through — stifling St. Aidan's who had no clear chance to cut into the lead, leaving Glenamaddy as the first team to book their spot in the final.
Glenamaddy now await the match on Thursday, September 12th between Colaiste Eamonn Ris and Ramsgrange CS, to determine who they will face for the cup on Wednesday, September 25th.
