Galway Students win titles at National Third Level Boxing Championships

It was a good day for Galway Boxing yesterday with five students winning National titles at the National Third Level Boxing Championships at the National Stadium.

NUIG Boxer Darren O Connor made a bit of history yesterday at the Irish Third Level Boxing Championships yesterday when he became Senior Champion. He became the first boxer to win national titles at Novice, Intermediate and Senior and won all by stoppage. Yesterday, the Loughrea Boxer won the senior title with a first round knockout over Jason Butler.

There were also wins for brothers Conor and Torin Finnerty of GMIT, Josh Monaghan of GMIT, Jamie McVeigh of NUIG and Adam Hession of GMIT while Samuel O’Donnell of GMIT, Damien Creaven of GMIT and Josh Slevin of NUIG were beaten in Finals.

There were also several other Galway Boxers involved with other Colleges yesterday. Max Jeannoit of Olympic, Eoin Mannion from Connemara and Jack McHugh from Monivea also appeared in Finals.
