The Leinster GAA Council have confirmed that all four fixtures in this year’s senior hurling championship will take place in Croke Park. It starts with the quarter-final meeting of Dublin and Laois on Saturday 24 October with throw-in at 6pm. Both semi-finals will form a double header at Croke Park on October 31st with Dublin or Laois taking on Kilkenny and Wexford facing Galway at 6.15pm. The final will take place on November 14th.
Meanwhile a Gaelic Players Association survey is asking inter-county stars if they want the Allianz National Hurling and Football Leagues and Championships to go ahead as planned. The representative body is posing the question directly to the players in a survey, with the results expected tomorrow.
Minister Simon Coveney has said he has worries for the GAA ahead of the resumption of inter-county action this weekend. There are Covid-19 outbreaks in a number of county panels, including the Wexford hurlers and Fermanagh footballers. Wexford hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald is awaiting the results of Covid 19 tests on his entire squad after a positive case in the panel has cast doubt over his side’s preparation for the upcoming Leinster championship semi final meeting with Galway on Saturday, Oct 31st.
