Mulkerrins
and Heffernan reign supreme in Connacht
Martin Mulkerrins and Niamh Heffernan are Connacht
40x20 champions after both players won the Men’s and Ladies Senior titles
respectively. The two competitions were played in Moycullen last Sunday with
plenty of action across the day. Mulkerrins defeated fellow club mate Seamus
Conneely in the quarter finals before beating Ian McLoughlin in the
semi-finals. He then faced Mayo man Joe McCann in what was a competitive final.
The Moycullen man proved too strong in the end as he became Connacht champion
once more.
The Ladies Open was played in a round robin format. Heffernan
defeated Amy Corrigan 25-14 before she beat Pauline Gallagher 25-9. The
Claregalway player will be hoping to enjoy a successful 40x20 season with
titles up for grabs.

Mikey Kelly won an All-Ireland schools title as
Galway were well represented in the All-Ireland 2nd level colleges’ semi-finals
and finals. The Abbeyknockmoy player won both his matches
in straight games as he continues to add to his growing collection of All
Ireland titles. A number of Galway players were unlucky not to reach finals
after losing out in close games.
