Galway GAA on the look-out for new Secretary

Galway GAA are on the look-out for a new full time Secretary after John Hynes announced last night he was stepping down from his role for personal reasons after 7 years, having become the first full-time secretary in the county at the end of 2011. Runai, a chara,

I write to inform you that I have decided, for personal reasons, not to seek a renewal of my contract of employment with Central Council, as the Full-Time County Secretary of Galway GAA.  I have notified the Management Committee of this decision now so as to allow the Galway County Committee ample time to review and strategically analyse its required management structure for the years ahead and for Club's to identify, nominate and elect a new County Secretary at the upcoming Convention in December.

It was a huge honour for me to be appointed as Full-Time County Secretary in 2012 and I am happy that I was able to make some contribution to the advancement of Galway GAA over the past seven years. I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to all Clubs for their support and especially to you, as Club Secretary for your courtesy, encouragement and assistance.
I express a special word of thanks and appreciation to the Office Staff and Volunteers who do a tremendous job, many times over and beyond the call of duty, in administrating and serving the requirements for our eighty-one Clubs in Galway. Finally for now, I wish you as Club Secretary and your Club every success, both on and off the field of play, in 2019 and the years ahead.
Best Regards,
Sean O hEidhin (John Hynes)
