Galway's Senior Footballers got their All-Ireland Senior Championship Group Stage off to a winning start with a 2-14 to 0-15 win over Derry in Pearse Stadium on Saturday.
Goals from Seán Kelly and Cein Darcy proved to be the difference against a Derry side who were down to 14 after the sending off of Gareth McKinless in the 21st minute.
