For the second year in a row Galway footballers beat Mayo on penalties in the FBD league semi final to qualify for a final meeting with Roscommon next Saturday in Hyde Park (2pm). In what was Galway manager Padraig Joyce's first competitive game in charge, Galway rallied from 6 points down early in the second half to draw level at 1-17 each at full time thanks to a late goal from Adrian Varley and a last gasp point from Liam Costello. In the penalty shoot out, goalkeeper Connor Gleeson from Dunmore proved the her as Galway prevailed 3-2.
