Galway had a good opening win in the Connacht U20 Football Championship beating Leitrim by 1-21 to 1-10 in Cloone on Wednesday night.

Galway led by 0-15 to 1-2 at half time, The Leitrim goal coming somewhat against the run of play.

Galway's goal came from team captain Colm Costello early in the second half.

The goal was part of an impressive 1-9 scored by the Dunmore MacHales man over the hour.
