Galway Bay FM Sports Heading To Oughterard For Football Championship Draws

The draws for the 2020 Galway Senior and Intermediate Football Championships take place this Thursday night at 8pm and you can follow the draws as they happen live on the Galway Bay FM Sports Facebook page.

We will be streaming live from Keogh’s Bar in Oughterard
in the company of the All-Ireland intermediate club football champions as they
eagerly anticipate who their opponents will be in this year’s senior draw.

Join Ollie Turner and the sports team, as well as special guests from clubs around the county this Thursday night from 8pm on the Galway Bay FM Sports Facebook page, with thanks to Keogh’s Bar in Oughterard.

SENIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

18 clubs will be split into
three groups with holders Corofin, runners-up Tuam Stars and one of defeated
semi-finalists, Moycullen or Salthill-Knocknacarra, being seeded.

The team not drawn, Moycullen
or Salthill/Knocknacarra will go back into the draw with the other 14 teams.

The top 2 teams in each group
(6) and the 2 best 3rd place teams will qualify for Quarter Finals.

The teams that top the 3
groups and the best 2nd place team will be seeded in Quarter Final.

Repeat fixtures to be avoided
in Quarter Finals.

Each club will play a minimum
of five matches under the format.

The 3 6th place teams and
worst 5th place team (4) will go into the relegation round robin with bottom 2
teams in relegation group relegated and both oth the intermediate champions and
runners-up travelling in the opposite direction.

16 clubs will be split into
four groups with relegated teams Killererin and Naomh Anna and defeated
semi-finalists Cortoon Shamrocks and Dunmore McHales being seeded.

The top 2 teams in each group
(8) will qualify for Quarter Finals.

The team that top the 4 groups
will be seeded in Quarter Final.

Repeat fixtures to be avoided
in Quarter Finals.

The 4 4th place teams will go
into the relegation play offs. 2 Semi Finals and a final with Final Loser  group relegated to Junior.

Opening weekend of round-robin fixtures is pencilled in for May 23rd-24th.

Draw to be held in Claregalway Hotel on Thursday.
