Galway athletes continued their busty racing schedule stateside last weekend. Alanna Lally continued her good form for Temple University at the weekend, as she clocked 56.40 to win the 400m at the Quaker Invitational in Philadelphia.
Aisling Joyce ran her best race of the season to date in clocking 4.33 to place fifth over 1500m at the Terre Haute event in Indiana.

2021 Galway 5km Series
The 2021 Galway 5k Series is closed for entries as of Tuesday 20th April, with a full house of 1000 entries and a sellout achieved for this year’s virtual series. This year the series will feature five 5 k races over 5 weeks in May and early June, where entrants put themselves against the clock rather than others. Once again, the event has proved hugely popular, and gives people a target to aim for in early summer.

Galway Athletics Development Squads
Clubs have been advised of the announcement of Galway development squads for U15 to U19 athletes for 2021, organised by Galway Athletics Board. This initiative aims to bring together high achieving young athletes from clubs across the county, in a range of athletics disciplines from sprints, hurdles, middle distance, jumps, throws and walks, into County organized group training sessions. It is planned to commence this programme in late May, with monthly events for the various groups

Galway based NUIG athlete Sarah Quinn, of St Colman’s club, has been selected on the Irish Women’s 4*100m relay team for the upcoming World Athletics Relays to be held in Poland on May 1st - May 2nd. The selected athletes are listed below. Quinn is coached by NUIG and GCH sprints coach Brendan Glynn. A top 8 finish at the World Athletics Relays guarantees Olympic qualification.
