Thomas McStay of Galway City Harriers secured European success as part of the high-flying Irish U23 Men’s Cross-Country team who won bronze team medals in Turin, Italy at the European Cross-Country Championships last Sunday.

McStay placed 63rd overall in a top-class race, won by Charles Hicks of Great Britain, and his Irish teammates Efrem Gidey, who was a great fifth overall, Keelan Kilreehil, Shay McEvoy, Darragh McIlhenny, and Jamie Battle, all combined very well to take podium spots for the second year in a row. The talented squad under coach Matt Lockett delivered one of Ireland s five team and individual medals on a phenomenally successful day for the six Irish squads on a really testing course.
