Former Galway Ladies Senior Football Captain Sinead Burke has confirmed her retirement from the game after nearly two decades in the Maroon and White.
The Oughterard native made her debut for Galway in 2007 and captained the Galway senior team in 2013 and 2014.
During that time, Galway reached two successive Division Two National League Finals beating Westmeath in the 2014 decider to book their place in Division One.
They also won back to back Connacht Senior Football Titles.
In a statement released on Social Media this afternoon Sinead said...
"Thank you for all the memories but more importantly thank you for all the amazing people I’ve met,played with/against along the way. To my family,friends and fiancé who have travelled every corner of the country to support. It was fun while it lasted"
Sinead has nine Connacht Senior Football Championship Medals winning her first in 2009, two all stars in 2018 and 2019, played in six all-Ireland Semi-Finals and one All-Ireland Senior final in 2019.
Her last game for Galway was the All-Ireland Semi-Final defeat to Cork last year while at club level, she played for Ballyboden St Enda’s in Dublin before making the move to Armagh Harps.
