FOOTBALL: Galway 1-8 Mayo 0-11 (Mayo win 7-6 penalties) – Match Report, and Reaction with Donal Ó Fatharta

Galway are out of the under 20 Football Championship following a 7-6 penalty shoot-out defeat to Mayo in the Connacht semi-final at Tuam last night (Tuesday, 13th July).

The teams finished 1-8 to 0-11 after extra time with Nathan Granger getting Galway’s goal.  Conor Flynn slotted home Mayo’s winner.

Galway Bay FM’s Kevin O’Dywer had this match report.

Afterwards, Galway manager Donal Ó Fatharta gave his thoughts to Kevin.

Meanwhile, the Connacht senior football final between Galway and Mayo has been fixed for Croke Park on Sunday week (25th July) at 1.30pm with 18,000 spectators to be accommodated.

Castlebar could only allow 3,600 due to COVID-19 restrictions so the decision was taken to take the fixture out of the province for the first time ever.
