Cycling Connacht Live / Beo With The Quiet Man from Cong, Olympian David O' Loughlin

This Friday night 2nd April at 8pm Cycling Connacht will host their third Facebook Live Show of the season with some very special guests. Olympian David O' Loughlin put The Quiet Man village of Cong in the spotlight when he embraced a career in cycling that saw him race all over the World with a career high bringing him to the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

The journey to Beijing saw him ply his trade first in Ireland then to Italy, France and Belgium that eventually saw him secure a professional contract with USA Cycle team Navigators where David raced against the best riders in the world at that time.

During the live show we will dig deep into his pursuit of a passion that took him from the back roads and trails of County Mayo to the bright lights of success in sport as a road and track International cyclist. He won the National Elite Road race Championship three times with heroic rides in the Ras Tailteann and the professional Tour of Ireland.

When David changed disciplines to bikes with no brakes on the track, David's ability really shone through, making history by winning Ireland's first UCI World Cup Track medal.

In this live night show on Friday night, David will share some insights into his career in cycling whilst also sharing some thoughts on how as a committed cycling community we can encourage, support and engage as coaches and mentors to inspire our youth riders so in the years to come, Cycling Connacht can follow the exploits of aspiring talent on their road to fun, adventure and success in cycling.

David will be joined by good friends and fellow cyclists Gary Collins and Padraig Marrey for a lively and fun discussion which will be hosted by Joanne Murphy of Tri Talking Sport. Tune in live here on Friday April 2nd at 8pm https://www.facebook.com/ConnachtCycling/live/
