All road closures will be signposted and marshalled, and residents who live on the route have been informed. Galway County Council explained that on Saturday, February 3rd, from 7.35 am to 4.45 pm the route along the L6135 from its junction at Carheens to its junction with the Polnahallia area (L6136), with Fearagha (L6137), Manuslinn (junctions L2109 and L6171), Kilcoona (L2108) and Caltragh (L6169) to finish, with an additional 300m along all roads leading to the above route. An alternative route has been indicated from Headford on N84 to N6 at Galway to N17 at Galway to R3332 at Tuam to N84 at Kilmaine to Headford.
Meanwhile, from 8.15 am to 6.35 pm, the council will close the route along the L6131 “from its junction with N84 at Mirehill to its junction with L2104 at Bunasillagh to its junction with L6102 at Ralusk to its junction with L6101 at Bellanagarraun to its junction with L2105 at Caherlistrane to its junction with L6103 at Caherakenny to its junction with L2105 at Gortnasculloge to its junction with L6105 at Ardrumkilla to its junction with L6106 at Kilower to finish and 300m along all roads leading to the above route.” An alternative route has been indicated from Headford on N84 to N6 at Galway to N17 at Galway to R3332 at Tuam to N84 at Kilmaine to Headford.
On the same day, between 10.45 am to 5.55 pm, Galway County Council announced the closure of the route along the L6125 “from its junction with L2103 at Ballynakillew to its junction with L6124 at Ballyconlought to its junction with L2103 at Cargin to its junction with L6118 at Annaghkeen to its junction with L6117 at Cloonkelly to its junction with L2101 at Ulrith to its junction with L6122 at Clerhaun to finish and 300m along all roads leading to the above route.” An alternative route has been indicated from Glencorrib on R334 to N84 at Headford.
The next day, on Sunday, February 4th, the other two routes will be closed to traffic.
From 7.35 am to 4.45 pm: “Along the L7129 from its junction with R347 at Kilskeagh to its junction with L7130 at Laragh Beg to its junction with L7131 at Farravaun to its junction with L7132 at Carrowreagh East to its junction with L3109 at Shantallow to its junction with L3108 at Lissaniska to its junction with L7139 at Corrafaireen to its junction with L7138 at Knockauncarragh to its junction with L7140 at Garraunard to its junction with L3110 at Ballynabookagh to its junction with L7204 at Ryehill Demesne to finish and 300m along all roads leading to the above route”. Road users can find an alternative route from Athenry on R348 to R359 at Killaan Cross to R358 at Greenville to N63 at Mountbellew to R347 at Annaghhill to Athenry.
Also, from 8.20 am to 5.30 pm the following route will be closed to traffic: “Along the L7229 from its junction with R339 at Menlough to its junction with L7224 at Knockavilla to its junction with L7223 at Cross Oughter to its junction with L7222 Cloonkeenkerril to its junction with L3209 at Colemanstown to its junction with L7148 at Colemanstown to its junction with L7149 at Cuddoo to its junction with L7150 at Cuddoo to its junction with L7148 at Laghtonora to its junction with L3117 at Laghtonora to its junction with L7146 at Aghafadda to its junction with L7145 at Lenamore to finish and 300m along all roads leading to the above route. Also along L7146 from its junction with L71461 at Taiquin Demesne to its junction with L7147 at Lenamore.” An alternative route has been indicated from Athenry on R348 to R359 at Killaan Cross to R358 at Greenville to N63 at Mountbellew to R347 at Annaghhill to Athenry.
Also, there will be additional traffic in the Eyre Square area from 6 pm to 9 pm on Friday, February 2nd to facilitate the Ceremonial Start, also near the Connacht Hotel. All spectators on the closed road stages are asked to always obey the marshals, as they will be implementing a comprehensive Safety Plan.
