On Saturday night The Connacht LGFA held their 2019 awards night in the Dalton Inn in Claremorris.
It was a chance for everyone to look back on what
was a great year for Ladies Football in Connacht.
The President of Connacht LGFA Liam McDonagh welcomed
everyone to the awards night and said nights like these were very important to
recognise the great year that was had.
President of the LGFA Maire Hickey was also present as
our special guest and she said it was great to be invited back to Connacht for
the awards and thanked everyone for all their time and work that they put in to
ladies football.
The
Award Winners Were:
Young Player of the Year – Chellene Trill
Acknowledgement of Galway's Sinead Burke on winning an All-Star
Galway's 2018 U16 and U18 All Ireland A Champions
Mayo's 2018 U14 and 16 All Ireland B Champions
Colaiste Bhaile Chlair on winning Junior B and
Senior C All Ireland's
Glenamaddy Community School on winning Senior B All
Ireland
Connacht Said thank you to Francie Keane and Gerry
Carmody for their work with the Connacht PPS teams over a number of years.
Connacht said thank you to all the referee's that
took charge of Connacht Finals in 2018
Every year Connacht offer five bursary awards to 3rd
level students this year the five winners were
Sarah Flattery – Galway
Dearbhaile Beirne – Leitrim
Danielle Caldwell – Mayo
Sinead Farrell – Roscommon
Laoise McDonagh – Sligo
Darren Kelly was acknowledged for his help in
promoting ladies football within Connacht.
Ted Maloney from Sligo was acknowledged for all the
years of work with Connacht LGFA.
This was also the first year of the Connacht LGFA
Hall Of Fame and Maire McAleer from Roscommon was announced as the first
inductee.
Maire has been involved in ladies football
since 1974 and is a founder member of the LGFA.

presented National President Marie Hickey with a token of appreciation from Connacht
LGFA.
