On a pleasant day for golf and an excellently
presented Ballinrobe Golf Club on Thursday last, Connacht Golf staged its
twelfth edition of the its development Championships, Team and Individual for
U15 Schoolboys.
This is a handicap event played in stableford format
over 18 Holes. The aggregate best two scores from the teams of three boys
determined the placings in the Team event.
Scoring was very good on the day reflecting the
talent that currently exists at this age grouping in Connacht with the leading individual
on the day returning 44pts and runner-up and third both returning 43pts.
When the scores were counted up the Winner of the
Charlie McGoldrick Cup, was Colaiste Einde, Galway who had an aggregate of
80pts. This gave them a 3pt winning margin over the defending champions Holy
Rosary Secondary School, Mountbellew. St. Joseph’s College Garbally,
Ballinasloe took third place on 74pts.
