Not only do Galway Hockey Club celebrate 70 years as a club this year but they are also competing in the Irish EY2 league with our Senior ladies’ team for the first time in the club’shistory.
Alyssa Manley, player coach named her team this week to compete in the first game this weekend in Dublin against Corinthians at 1.15pm. The following weekend Galway host UCC in Dangan on Saturday 4th December at 1pm.

The team are lucky to have Alyssa as player coach with her experience and knowledge having competed in Rio Olympics 2016 for the USA national team. Former UCD player Elaine Carey also brings experience into team. Many of the team have been lining out for Connacht U18 already this season and again look forward to this new challenge. Holly Comer &Aoibhin McDonnell have also recently been called for U18 Irish trials having had their experience on the Irish U16 training squad cut short by Covid.
Elaine said at training this week “Myself and the players are eager to get started with our long-awaited EY2 campaign. Playing against quality teams from other provinces on a regular basis is going to benefit us hugely, and is a new challenge for us all, which we are really excited about. With this being our first year in this league, we look forward to growing as a team and club over the course of the season ahead”
