Athenry FC win Connacht Junior Cup

Athenry are the 2015/2016 Connacht Cup Champions after a crushing 7-0 victory against Ballinasloe Town AFC at the HQ of the Roscommon League in Lecarrow yesterday. The winners were 2-0 up at the break thanks to Gary Forde’s fine opener and two minutes from half time Cahill Fahy on the back post headed home under pressure to leave Athenry in a dominant position. The second half saw Man of the Match Conor Cannon scoring twice, with further goals from Jamie O Driscoll, Declan Curran and Alan Harty. Athenry had too much fire power on the day and when Referee Martin Halligan had to give two Ballinasloe players their marching orders they was no way back for the Town. The day and the Cup belonged to Athenry and pictured is Conor Cannon who received his Man of the Match award from Martin Kane Cup Chairman Connacht Council…
