The 2018 College League finals will tip off at Oblate Hall, Inchicore and the Barrow Centre, IT Carlow next week, with some extremely competitive clashes in store.
In the Men’s Division 1 title decider, Ulster University will face off against a hotly-tipped NUI Galway on Wednesday afternoon in what is set to be one of the games of the week. Galway lost out in last year’s clash against Griffith College Dublin so will be hoping to scoop the title this year.
In the Women’s Division 1 clash, it’s just as interesting, as Ulster University feature once more and will have a tough challenge on their hands as they face off against DCU in a repeat of last year’s final. Ulster took the honours in 2017, but there's no doubt that DCU will be out for revenge in this year’s clash.
Finals across the men’s and women’s Division 2 and 3 will also take place across the two days of action.
Admission to the games is free and, speaking ahead of the action-packed two days, Chair of the NBCC Martin Conroy stated: “We are looking forward to another fantastic few days of college basketball in both the Oblates and the Barrow Centre.
“There are some very interesting games coming up and we hope to show that the standard of Irish college basketball is at an all-time high. The leagues have been a huge success this year and the quality of teams are getting better every year.
“All of the finals will be live streamed on the Basketball Ireland YouTube channel again this year, so hopefully we’ll get as big an audience as we have over the past few years. Best of luck to all teams involved and thanks to all the teams that have made it such a fantastic year yet again for the NBCC.”
