Galway United have reached an agreement with Newcastle United for the transfer of 18-year-old Kyle Fitzgerald for an undisclosed fee. Kyle joined Galway United as a 14-year-old from local side Mervue United and was part of their league-winning squad in 2021. He quickly progressed through the ranks and stepped up to the U17s in 2022 and the U20s in 2023. He began training with the senior team and earned a professional contract in December of 2023. He has regularly been in the first-team squad since and made his full senior debut during the 2024 SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division campaign as a substitute against Drogheda United, showcasing his talent in front of thousands at a packed Eamonn Deacy Park. Kyle Fitzgerald has featured regularly for the Republic of Ireland underage squads with his exciting and technical style of play.
