CyberSafeKids’ recent research surveyed over 7,100 primary and secondary school-aged children (8-14 years old) and shows that more than one in four (26%) struggle to spend time away from gaming and social media.
More than half (53%) of 8-12 year olds and almost two-thirds (65%) of 12-14 year olds believe they ‘spend too much time online’.
Children also reported that they 'waste a lot of time online' and this belief increased with age from 23% of 8-12 year olds to 39% of 12-14 year olds.
CyberSafeKids is encouraging families, schools and workplaces across Ireland to take a ‘CyberBreak' for 24 hours.
