Following their opening day 2-2 draw to Cork City, Galway United are back in Eamonn Deacy Park on Friday (21st February 2025) for their opening home fixture of the 2025 SSE Airtricity League Premier Division.
The Tribesmen's return to top-flight football began with a 1-0 defeat to the Inchicore outfit in 2024. The Dublin side enjoyed three victories from four over the season—all by a solidarity goal. They also drew 1-1 back in August.
Indeed, Galway United's last competitive win over St. Patrick's Athletic was a 2-0 win away in the FAI Cup in 2017. September 2009 was the last time boys in Maroon enjoyed a home league victory against St. Pat's though they did win a pre-season friendly in Eamonn Deacy Park in 2022.
Leading up to the game, Galway United assistant manager Ollie Horgan and first team captain Greg Cunningham attended a media event and spoke to Galway Bay FM's Mike Rafferty.
