With two rounds done in the Allianz National Football League and Galway sitting top of Division 1 on two wins, there has been a positive reaction to the quality and entertainment of the games after the multiple changes introduced by the Football Review Committee.
Counties are getting used to keeping three forwards in attack, defending a 12 vs 11 situation, and trying to maximise two-point scores from outside a 40-metre arc, which the Tribesmen have successfully done 10 times.
While people are enjoying the games, there still is a lot to take in with so many differences and the same goes for match referees who are responsible for ensuring the new rules are carried out fairly.
Annaghdown's Thomas Murphy is one of three Galway referees in the National set-up and he joined Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly on 'Over The Line' this week (7th February 2025) to talk about how the experience has been for officials and to provide an understanding some of the rules.
