Hickey's Supermarket, Glebe, Kilconnell is celebrating 80 years serving the local community. On Saturday they are hosting special Birthday celebrations to mark the occasion.
Hickey's is a family owned business offering customers a post office service, general groceries, hardware and a full deli providing freshly made dinners. Their superb home baking is famous and in fact has travelled the world. To make their customers feel at home Hickey's also have a seating area with wi-fi, so you can sit back enjoy their excellent home cooking.
We're inviting customers and all listeners to join us on Saturday for the celebration, we'll have the best of Country Music and even a few hamper giveaways during the day.
History :
Waltie Hickey opened the shop in 1945 after many years working as bar man and shop assistant. One evening on his cycle home he make a decision to buy and build a shop of his own. This plan started with a 40 pound mortgage and a lot of hard work. Over the years Hickey's Supermarket sold groceries, hardware and mainly repaired bicycles.
