COPE Galway is delighted to announce the opening of their new charity shop, COPE Galway Charity Shop - Limited Edition, at Newtownsmith in Galway city centre. Open Monday – Saturday, the new shop offers a large selection of pre-loved fashion, furniture and bric a brac, books, CD’s and DVD’s. The shop also features a dedicated bridal suite with an extensive display of bridal and evening wear, which can be viewed by appointment.
COPE Galway is no stranger to the charity shop arena, having run their long established and much loved charity shop at St Augustine Street for the past 11 years, which will continue to provide quality fashion, jewellery and books.
Funds raised through COPE Galway’s charity shops go directly to funding their work in the community, supporting people in Galway experiencing homelessness or domestic abuse, while also promoting healthy, independent ageing. As well as acting as a focal point in helping to raise awareness of COPE Galway’s services and how they can be accessed, the shops provide many opportunities for volunteering, work experience and skill development, giving people in Galway a chance to contribute to their community. COPE Galway are currently recruiting volunteers who can give a few hours a week to make a real difference to local people in Galway.
With more people than ever choosing to shop second hand, COPE Galway’s charity shops offer a more affordable approach to fashion, reducing the impact on the planet and contributing to a more sustainable economy through re-use, upcycling and waste reduction.
COPE Galway’s Charity Shops rely on donations to keep their shelves filled with a diverse range of quality items. People can donate clothes, bridal and evening wear, bags and shoes, furniture and homeware, books, CDs and jewellery to help the shop recycle and re-use these items.
