Christmas 2024 Park & Ride Service; Good tidings we bring … ho ho ho !
Galway City’s Christmas 2024 Park & Ride Service is up and running from Saturday, December 14th and to check it all out Ronan Lardner broadcasts The Live Wire 12-3pm on Monday 16th from inside the Fairgreen Coach Station. Hop on the Christmas Park and Ride from Galway Racecourse and say hello to Ronan when you arrive in the city centre!
Galway City Council is delighted to announce that the annual Christmas Park & Ride Service will run from Galway Racecourse to the Fairgreen Coach Station from Saturday, December 14th until Tuesday, December 24th. Buses will run every 15 minutes in both directions Monday to Saturday from 9.30 am to 9.15 pm. On Sundays, the service will run every 15 minutes from 11.00 am to 7.00 pm and every 30 minutes from 7.00 pm to 9.15 pm.
Fares are €1 per person each-way, children and pensioners travel for free. All-day parking at the racecourse is included in the bus fare.
Referring to the Christmas Park & Ride, Senior Executive Engineer with Galway City Council, Brendan Gallagher commented,
“This fantastic service affords you the opportunity to leave the car behind and travel in and out of the city to shop, eat out, visit the Christmas Market or other events or venues, without the stress of parking or congestion. Every car that is left at the Racecourse is one less vehicle contributing to traffic and emissions in Galway City over the busy Christmas period. A special thanks to our partners the Fairgreen Coach Station, Galway Racecourse and Callinan Coaches for helping us to deliver this excellent service.”
As in previous years, the Christmas Park & Ride service will operate in conjunction with other sustainable transport promotions, with Irish Rail offering free parking at Athenry Station for the whole of December, including their current 20 % reduction off all fares and a €6.00 Day Return fare from Oranmore to Galway, commencing on Sunday, December 1st.
