SIAB Schools International Cross Country Championships: The SIAB International Schools cross country competition was held in Scotland last weekend. Two Galway athletes were on the Irish team that took on England, Scotland, and Wales. Seamount College Kinvara athlete Ciarán Considine won team silver on the Irish U17 Boys team in the SIAB cross country 6km race, finishing 5th of the Irish team and 15th overall. Luke Walsh of Gort CS also won silver on the Irish 4 x 1500m mixed cross-country relay team at U17 level. Overall, the Irish schools' teams had great success, with all the teams winning medals and two individual golds: Freya Renton in the U17 Girls event and Daragh Whelan in the U15 Boys race. National 10k Championships: The National 10k Road Race Championships were held in Dunboyne, Co. Meath last Sunday, and a strong field assembled, all competing for national glory. Galway clubs travelled in numbers, and Craughwell, GCH, Tuam and South Galway were well represented. At Senior level, Jack O Leary took the Men’s title, ahead of double Streets of Galway winner David McGlynn, originally from Bohermore in the city, while the Ladies event saw the fastest ever 10k time ran by a female, as Niamh Allen of Leevale AC clocked a super 31.44 for victory. Craughwell's Senior Men’s team impressed, placing 7th overall, led home by William Fitzgerald in fifth, along with Jamie Fallon, Kevin Mooney and Jordan Walsh. GCH Men’s team were 12th, with Keith Fallon, James Elgar, Padraig Flaherty and Dave Carter the scorers. Tuam AC Men’s Masters team won bronze team medals with superb runs by Ger Hartnett, Sean Burke and Gearoid Healy. In the Ladies, Fiona Everard of the University of Galway was fourth overall, with GCH Ladies 9th Senior team with a great display from Mila Geldenhuys clocking 34.49, backed up by the indomitable Christine Kennedy and Clodagh Egan

𝗜𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿: Last weekend saw an Irish Race walking selection travel to Dudince, Slovakia to compete in the World Race Walking Tour. Two Galway athletes travelled, including Savannagh O'Callaghan (Tuam), who finished 3rd in the U18 Girls' 5km in a season's best of 25.29, while in the U-20 Men’s 10km, Matthew Newell (Tuam), moving up in distance, recorded 47.01 to finish 9th.

National Juvenile Championships: Two days of National Juvenile Indoor Track and Field Championships take place in Athlone IT this weekend, with events for U12-U19 ages on the programme
