Maree are looking for a new Head Coach for their Men's Superleague team after Fernando Bethencourt left the club by mutual consent following a weekend defeat to Tralee in the National League. Assistant coach, Ciaran McGroggin is taking over as interim head coach while the club look for a permanent replacement. Spaniard Bethencourt was appointed to the Maree Superleague team in June as a replacement for Charlie Crowley, who moved into a managerial role, having coached professionally in Spain, Iceland, and Luxembourg over the last few years. It has been a turbulent season for Maree, who lost to Tralee Warriors 107-75 last weekend following a decision by the National Appeals Committee to uphold Basketball Ireland's decision to expel them from the National Cup and hit them an 18-point deduction in the league.
