Kinvara Hockey and St Jarlaths College to benefit from Large Scale Sports Infrastructure Fund

Sports Ministers Catherine Martin and Thomas Byrne will hold a press conference at Dalymount Park at 11 am to announce a pre-election handout totalling €173m across all codes as part of the Large Scale Sports Infrastructure Fund. Of the 35 projects to benefit, two of them are in County Galway, with Kinvara Hockey Club receiving €1.3 million to develop a regional pitch and adjoining multi-use games area and St Jarlath's College Tuam receiving €2 million to develop a full-size 4G floodlit pitch and redevelopment of their existing grass pitches. The big winners in the west were Slifgo Rovers, who received €16.4 million to transform The Showgrounds into a 'modern multi-sport stadium with community accessible indoor facilities.' Nationally, Bohemians and Dublin City Council have received €24.7 million for the long-overdue redevelopment of Dalymount Park, originally a Euro 2020 legacy project. Bohs have yet to confirm where they will play as a temporary base when work gets underway on demolishing the Phibsborough venue and rebuilding an 8,000-capacity UEFA Category 3 stadium, most likely in 2026.
