Tuam Sinn Féin election candidate describes increase for childcare pay as bittersweet

Tuam Local Election candidate for Sinn Fein Deborah Reynolds has described the increase in pay for the childcare sector as bittersweet.

A pay rise of five percent has been announced for the early learning sector, which will come into place on June 24th.

Deborah says while it is heartening to see the pay deal, the new minimum rate of €13.65 isn't enough to reflect the responsibility and importance of the job.

The Sinn Féin candidate is pushing for a minimum rate of €15, along with a progressive pay-scale that recognises qualifications and experience.
